Community Sponsorship
Red River Co-op owes its success to the members of our community who purchase our products. Because our continued success depends on the strength of our community, we are committed to bettering the lives of our members and taking initiative in the communities we serve. This support is the foundation of our Member Relations, Marketing and Promotion programs.
Those programs strengthen the role we take in the communities where we do business by focusing our giving into specific community sponsorships/donations that most closely reflect our corporate values and strategies. It is necessary, due to the thousands of funding requests we receive each year, to establish a long-term community sponsorship strategy.
Donation Requests and Guidelines
Requests:
In today's world, appeals for support grow annually in number and variety. While recognizing the growing needs of our community realizing that we cannot support each group, our Member Relations Committee yearly identifies key areas of giving dependent on the needs of our community and social issues.
All requests are reviewed by the Member Relations Committee at regular quarterly meetings.
Guidelines:
Red River Co-op reviews each request as it applies to our Member Relations Committee program goals, areas for support and the following guidelines:
- Groups must be non-profit and community organizations within the general trading area of Red River Co-op.
- Community level donations will have priority over national donations
- Special considerations maybe be given to groups that adhere to co-operative principals
The following is a list of groups to which Red River considers inappropiate to donate to:
- Individuals or self interest groups
- Religious organizations, except those offering community service on a non-denominational basis.
- Private clubs or organizations
- Trips or tours
- Conferences, workshops and conventions
- Political groups
Limitations on giving:
Red River Co-op recognizes the vital and worthwhile role performed by the many charitable organizations in our community. However, due to limited financial resources, we will restrict our support to those groups who best match our objectives.
Submitting a request:
To be considered for support, all requests must be in writing [no phone calls accepted]. To aid in the decision-making process your submission should contain the following:
- Name, address, phone number, fax number, and contact person's name and title
- Information on your organization including mandate and objectives
- How your organization's objectives reflect those of Red River Co-op's policy
- Type and amount of support requested
- Charitable registration number assigned by Revenue Canada
- How you will use the funding
- Proposed recognition of donation
All requests will be reviewed in a timely manner. Only those selected will be contacted
